Daegu in summer — is it really as hot as people say? Worth visiting?

I'm planning a Korea trip in July and considering adding Daegu to my itinerary. But I keep hearing it's called 'Dafrica' because of the heat. Is it bearable for a tourist? Are there indoor activities? Or should I skip it and spend more time in Busan/Jeju instead?
