Emergency numbers and what to do if something goes wrong in Korea
Save these numbers before your trip. Police: 112 (English operators available 24/7). Fire and ambulance: 119. Tourist helpline: 1330 (English, Japanese, Chinese — they help with everything from directions to medical emergencies to filing police reports). International clinics in Seoul include Severance Hospital (Sinchon), Samsung Medical Center (Gangnam), and Asan Medical Center. For minor issues, pharmacies (약국) are everywhere. If you lose your passport, go to your embassy and file a police report. The 1330 helpline can do three-way translation calls. Honestly, the biggest safety risk in Korea is losing your phone or wallet — even then, there is a good chance someone will turn it in.
