Wowpass complete guide 2026: the tourist card that replaced cash for me
Wowpass was the single best thing I set up for my Korea trip. Find a Wowpass kiosk (available at Incheon Airport, Myeongdong, Hongdae, major subway stations), insert your foreign currency bills (16 currencies supported) or use your foreign debit card. Exchange rates are roughly 50% cheaper than airport exchange counters.
Important: Wowpass has TWO separate wallets.
1. Shopping balance — loaded via foreign currency/card at the kiosk. Works at restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, Olive Young, taxis, duty-free shops.
2. T-money transit balance — must be loaded separately with Korean won cash at the kiosk or transferred via the Wowpass iPhone app.
The card works wherever Korean card terminals are accepted. I used it everywhere — even some traditional market stalls.
What does NOT work: Online/delivery app payments (Yogiyo, Baemin, Coupang Eats), some cash-only street stalls, underground shopping areas.
My tip: Load ₩200,000 shopping balance + ₩30,000 transit balance every few days. The Wowpass app shows your balance in real-time. Officially endorsed by Korea's Financial Services Commission.
